(The Expanding and Stagnating)

Lurid luminescence in lucid vitality,
vivid in its vibrancy.
Emotional palette motioned by memory,
memory in its infancy.
Experience expanding the layers of learning,
beliefs in elasticity,
motioned by memory, stagnating in stages,
stubbornness stripping layers of learning.
New experience expanding further thoughts,
negating failed experience;
learning presses on.
Memory motioned by memory,
stubbornness stripping layers and saving
saving layers that suit.
Coarse layers stripped by time,
stagnating in stages
Failed experience
Motioned by memory stripped by time
memory stripped by time

Time on my Hands

semarfthgiL

Light spills onto skin,
soft to touch,
but deeper still
an inner glow tends.
Reflections
abound in tandem,
a rippled crowd of fractals
slipping past the frame-limit

What If

A child in the supermarket,
clutches tightly their mother’s hand
makes micro-observations;
the height of the ceiling
and where the pipes may go,
counting the tiles on the floor
and creating an equation to match.
what direction the shadows are cast.

It is a human desire to wonder – what if?

Allowing minute, insignificant things to manifest and grow
a trait often exclusive to a child’s psyche.
But by no fault of their own
a child
entranced by the ceilings
the floor tiles and the shadows
might not be so wary of the bigger things in front of them;
usually a pole, sometimes a window
but rarely a person
another child
who much the same would
never realise the other was there.

Fate wouldn’t bear good news, nor would it caution them
their paths would just cross prematurely
each afforded the other’s presence
ten years too early and without
the butterflies.

In the meantime, they fade
each clutching their mother’s hand
going their separate ways until they meet again.
For now, to each other, just shadows, only foreshadows.

Lunar Sea/Lunacy

Smoky jonquil hue
concaved and serrated,
concealed by the clouds
softened and sedated.
Intermittent blinks
flashes of ruby red,
guiding in the dark
as sea and sky are wed.
Dulled by a warm blade
veiled in a vapoured gloom,
piercing the nothing
the sunk ship met her doom.
(and so too did the moon).

A Year

In winter's nights I see your shine
but in summer's days it's more divine.
My jaw just falls as footsteps spring
as I clasp onto a light that's mine.

I see with time the light wont fade
but brighten with each moment made
as I seek into the the season; you
make my mind assured and less afraid.

So one short trip around the sun
is a lifetime of love, just begun.
As the sun, life revolves around you -
like the Earth, I am smiling and spun.

I Made a Lot of Mistakes

Feathered flutter hovers over hollow mounds.
All things stay.
All things change.
Outstretched wingspan blustered over golfing grounds.
Drive away.
Hunting range.

Sunlight from Atlantic's reflection blinding.
All things stay.
All things change.
Overheard phonecalls of dejection finding.
Work away.
Rearrange.

22°

The cirrostratus sky frames your sweet smile
as the halo envelopes the lunar orb.
The pale light is twice reflected to the sea
and within it my worries are absorbed.

For the winter's dark is broken by your light
and the days are slowly getting longer.
With each parting cloud, your parting lips
and each sunrise seen, my heart is stronger.

In the solstice's end I find my solace;
you are the antidote for my furrowed frown.
For the halo that surrounds the pale moon
reflects upon the one I find upon your crown.

And when I am softened by such a spark
it makes me almost welcome a brief dark.

Repetition and Alteration

Repetition is a constructed lie
but one that allows us to thrive
for it's a variation improved by
the new moments had whilst alive.

Alteration in the familiar
is a route to a rout of rights
through perfecting something similar
and subsiding all of the slights.

Caught

I walked heady into the sweet,
damp night, however caught I was in its
leverage.

The dog across the street whined for me, impetuous, drummed
my porous skin into air,
like a mother praying for their child, making
me alive again,
embryonic.

Sunspots blossomed over the fullness of night, and
I curled, ashamed, inside
their morning light.

Night Light

Shocking synapse barrage
weans a wary glance out the soul's windows
apple of the beholder's eye;
heart palpitations, away it goes.

Scalding black drink
innervate the weary soma
stimulate neither skull nor organs
Blind to dreams and desire, mental glaucoma.

Sweet synesthesia needle,
holy skin, mind wholly in trance
gnaw on God's flesh
and falter in his dance.

Rising lumen reflexes
further subdue subterranean sorrow.
Sensory blaze, pneuma to ash
vagrant drift to vapid tomorrow.

Ticking Away

This starts
as something
something so slight
                                                                     until caught by                                                            time
and is caught by the night
until it departs
without warning
and it is
over.

Worn

The lone man stalks the road,
old patched jacket sewed
marks snake where he once strode.
A stolen meal, nothing owed
he still lives by moral code
that lone man nothing slowed.

The Passing of Storm Frank

Grandad, I remember those special times
like milk-rounds protecting you from parking fines,
screaming at the warden to leave you alone
in my youth, not knowing you could park on double lines.

Grandad, I remember how you asked about the scores
as you helped me close the milking barn doors,
both bemoaning the demise of glory days past
ever hard-working as you complete your chores.

Grandad, I remember a childhood playground from your farm
knowing that I could come to no harm,
a break from play with biscuits and pop
whilst listening in wonder to your unique charm.

Grandad, I remember how you displayed your pride
for how your family have all followed your lead and tried
and the way you have been such a influence on the girls
we all feel your wonderful warmth inside.

Grandad, I've learned how each moment that passes
is an excuse for laughter and I'll pass that to my classes,
there's rarely a serious moment that can't be made light
so I will see you when I get my glasses.

Nuclear

The pink sky rubs off onto me,
and I am coated in the wisps like Nuclear ash.
Wafts of stale body smell rise from my bed and I.
The window sucks the trickle of my lamp
into the night -
a plenum,
slowly evacuating.

Snapshot

While tomorrow's tomorrow's yesterday
and what was won't be forever
our precious fragments of today
will hold relevance forever
so that yesterday's yesterday's
forgotten not tomorrow, but never.

What It Means

What I thought impossible got me ensnared.
It might seem silly at first glance,
But many things appear dim when compared
To the shackles of circumstance.
